Takamine at Guitar Center

So I was at guitar center the other day because my guitar for 13 years (Takamine EN-10C) now has a small hole in it from my strumming and the frets are buzzing. So, I’m wanting to see if I can find something affordable and a great sound at the same time. What I found was something I didn’t expect.

Takamine EG5013SVFT – beautiful OM body with a solid flamed spruce top with flamed maple sides and back. It also has the TK40 electronics, which is sort of an upgrade to the one on my EN-10C. And it’s going for $599 at Guitar Center, which I can hopefully still negotiate down a bit.

I spent a lot of time just playing the guitar, since I came in early and no one was there. I even got a chance to plug it into the amps, which it sounded even better. Now, I really would prefer to buy a Taylor. But with the economy these days, how can I justify it?

Decisions, decisions… how do I convince my wife this is a great idea? Wish me luck!

  1. So, did you buy it? A couple of resellers have this as a closeout model, so I just bought one. Can’t wait to play it!
