This was our worship Sunday, taking advantage of the Labor day weekend. We talked about worship, what worship is, and our expressions of worship. Randy was probably up for about 20 minutes, which left lots of room in the service for songs.

We had our usual alternate setup as well, with communion in the aisles, offering baskets up front, elders on the wings for prayer, and the steps to kneel to pray by yourself. But we added another thing.

We passed out strips of paper to each individual as they came into our service. We also had this 8 foot cross in the middle of the room. The instructions were that to help you focus more on communion and remembering what Christ had done for you, for you to write down your sins, your troubles, your worries, your cares on the strip of paper, fold it, and take it to the cross and “lay it down” at the foot of the cross.

Lots of our people participated in this “laying down at the cross” activity, and so did other people at the different things we had. I have already gotten lots of comments on how meaningful to them the service was, which is a great thing. Praise the Lord!

We’ve been gettig lots of comments lately about the mix and sound. So, we cleared the settings and went for a more knotched out EQ for each instrument and the vocals punch out more. Hope it helps.

This was a great Sunday. I was unsure about how it would turn out, because we’re doing relatively new songs, but at least for some of the congregation, that didn’t matter.

And because the message turned out 10 minutes shorter than expected, we had a lot more time to just wait on God, revel in the presence of Him in worship and praise, and truly give him honor in what we did.

Great time in worship. Loved it!

Janet Popp led most of the day. So did Rick Taylor. Because all of my bass players cancelled on me (the last one on Thursday evening), I had no choice but to play bass. So I let Janet have the service. And for her first time doing so, she did an exceptional job.

Thanks to the team for following suit and working together as a team. Hopefully Janet can lead more and get herself more comfortable.
